As a native South Australian, born in 1956, Dean has been dedicated to drawing design and art for most of his life. Initially a sign designer and painter, he has travelled and worked from the east to the west coast of Australia, always incorporating his love of surfing. Later settling home in Moana Beach where he was also involved in computer graphics and digital print.

Since the mid nineties, painting has become his passion with acrylics being his preferred medium. Totally self taught, he incorporates influences from past and contemporary artists and creates a visual journal of light, colour and form as he explores our unique coastal beauty, coastal urban landscape and surf culture.

He has exhibited in two man shows, rotary art shows and been a finalist in the Fleurieu Biennale Australian landscape and Fleurieu Vistas art prizes. Has awards from the Victor Harbor Art show and also won the Surf Art Exhibition. Along with his commissioned works he is steadily growing a popular following for his contemporary realist work.
