Judy Garrard

Judy lives in the picturesque Adelaide Hills where she paints and teaches from her home studio, ‘ The Dairy ‘ Studio/Gallery.

Judy has undergone lessons with Adelaide artists Viv Newcombe and Sylvia Preston but has had no formal training. Although the journey to where she is now has been both rewarding and challenging, she has slowly built up her skills and confidence to the point where she exhibits and enjoys the pleasure of selling her work. Judy likes to paint in watercolours and acrylics and loves experimenting with texture and additional materials, fabric and stitching, primarily drawing inspiration from the wonders of nature. Total contentment comes whilst being absorbed in the process of creating a new piece, watching an image begin to emerge from the painting surface never fails to thrill.
Judy has exhibited her work throughout Adelaide and regional South Australia and in 2005 held a solo exhibition at ‘Zest’ Café in Glenelg and again in 2010 at ‘Gallery M’. In more recent years SALA has been a key time for exhibiting for her and she’s been involved in organizing community exhibitions with local hills artisans.
Judy is an active member of the artists collective ‘ Willunga Arts Collective’, who exhibit in Willunga and is also a member of the ‘Painters of the Flinders Ranges’.

She also has the luxury of being able to exhibit her work in her own little studio/ gallery, the old dairy located on their property, which they have renovated and you are very welcome to visit. You can find details of the location on her web site.
